Join us for Heroku Product & Engineering Month with award-winning CEO Michael Groves. With the world's attention turning to the climate emergency that we're facing, solutions to reduce waste and pollution are critical and startups may hold the key to move us forwards. Heroku are sponsoring Startup Grind Chapters globally in October. Heroku makes the process of deploying, configuring, scaling, tuning, and managing apps as simple and straightforward as possible so that developers can focus on what’s most important: building great software and digital solutions that delight and engage customers. Michael Groves (Topolytics) Michael is a geographer with a PhD in earth observation, with over 20 years’ experience in environmental management and sustainability reporting. He helped to devise the Forest Stewardship Council standards on sustainable forestry and ran some of the early audits across south-east Asia. After a spell writing sustainability reports in New Zealand and flying in Zimbabwe, he returned to the UK and co-founded a sustainability communications and reporting business, bought by a London-based consultancy in 2013. He then founded Topolytics, a technology company that uses data science and machine learning to maximise recovery of the world’s commercial and industrial waste. Topolytics is currently working with the Ordnance Survey to build a system that can track all 500 million waste transactions in the UK and has just been named by Google and SAP as a leading commercial technology that can drive the circular economy globally.
