About this event

"Health is not valued till sickness comes" - Thomas Fuller

The Future of Healthcare w/ Andrew Parfery (Care Sourcer) and Christopher McCann (Current Health)

With the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak and the increasing strain on healthcare services, never has there been a more crucial role for new businesses and startups to play.

These are truly challenging times, yet we can find comfort in coming together as a community for another #SGVirtual with the Startup Grind Edinburgh team.

Andrew Parfery (Care Sourcer)

In 2016 Andrew Parfery co-founded Care Sourcer, one of Scotland's fastest-growing tech businesses. Care Sourcer (www.caresourcer.com) is an online comparison and matching site that connects people who need care with businesses who can help.

Andrew’s inspiration came from running a successful care company, but he was frustrated that so many people had to wait months in hospital to find care, while care businesses around him went bankrupt.

Care Sourcer has already seen great success, reducing discharge delays in pilot NHS hospitals by a huge 40%, and helping thousands of people find the care they need within days, not weeks or months.

Andrew’s mission is to tackle one of the UK’s biggest societal issues by growing Care Sourcer to be the trusted brand for finding care. Thanks to a record-breaking Series A investment of £8.5m from Legal & General and ADV, Andrew and the growing team at Care Sourcer are rapidly expanding this groundbreaking technology UK-wide.

Christopher McCann (Current Health)

Christopher McCann is the CEO & Co-Founder of Current Health. Current Health helps doctors treat unwell patients proactively by monitoring the human body and automatically identifying onset of disease.

Christopher holds a Masters of Engineering with Distinction in Computer Science and a Bachelors in Medical Science. Christopher started Current Health while a medical student in the UK after seeing patients deteriorate because the warning signs could not be identified early enough.

Christopher took a sabbatical to found Current Health and subsequently left medical school to focus on building the company. Current Health now employs over 50 people, has raised over $20m , and operates across Europe, the United States and Africa.
