Empathetic Leadership, NYSE IPO & a New Edinburgh HQ - Andy MacMillan CEO, UserTesting
While we speak highly and often of our Scottish-born tech unicorns including SkyScanner, Fanduel and Rockstar, we now find ourselves with a San Francisco-based unicorn opening its EMEA headquarters in Edinburgh: UserTesting.
UserTesting is a leading on-demand human insight platform that quickly gives companies a first-person understanding of how their target audience behaves throughout any experience and why. The platform is used by many of the world's top brands, including some of the fastest-growing fintech organisations, helping them deliver a seamless customer experience from all areas of the business through fast and effective feedback from real people.
We’re delighted to be joined by UserTesting Chair & CEO Andy MacMillan for a second time, having interviewed him at their San Francisco HQ as part of our Startup Grind Scotland Silicon Valley Programme.
Andy is renowned for his empathetic leadership style and recently led UserTesting to IPO on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in November 2021.
Andy also brings 20 years of enterprise SaaS experience to UserTesting. As a former product executive at Oracle and Salesforce, he saw the critical role that customer centricity plays in creating great experiences. By helping companies become more customer-centric, he has grown multiple enterprise SaaS businesses to hundreds of millions of dollars.
Andy was also recently appointed as a new US Trade Envoy by the Scottish Government's SDI team. This aims to promote Scotland’s business interests to American markets.
We’ll be taking a closer look at a wide range of topics, including, and certainly not limited to:
- Why the ‘E’ in CEO should stand for empathy
- Leading a rapidly growing SaaS business to IPO
- Why Edinburgh is a natural choice for an EMEA HQ
- What Scotland can learn from the Silicon Valley mindset
- What we can learn from a Silicon Valley CEO
Join us on Thurs 4th August as we learn from Andy’s expertise and journey to date.
