About the speakers

Lucinda

Genius Foods was born out of Lucinda’s urgent requirement to provide tasty gluten-free bread for her son, whom had been diagnosed as gluten intolerant. After failing to find an alternative to the brick like, vacuum packed offerings on supermarket shelves, Lucinda realised that she had to create something herself. Necessity really was the mother of creation.

Lucinda’s children would often come home from school to find 14 different loaves of bread waiting for them to try. She even broke her oven, but in 2009 Genius bread hit the shelves.

Sydney

After pursuing a career in classical ballet, studying finance in NYC and Edinburgh, Sydney Chasin founded The Healthy Crop LTD after graduating from Edinburgh Napier University with a degree in Financial Services. The Healthy Crop is a food company that specialises in all sorghum grain. Despite being under-utilised in the west, sorghum is one of the most important grains in the world because of its drought resilient properties. They've recently launched their first product, lil'POP, a ready-to-eat popped sorghum snack, which looks like miniature popcorn. The brand is all about showing how the lil' things, actions, and people can make a massive impact.
