[Guest Speakers] Darina Garland & Kristian Tapaninaho (Ooni)

Darina Garland is Co-founder and Chief Experience Officer of global outdoor pizza oven brand Ooni. Darina is passionate about developing people, community, growing world-class teams and authentic partnerships. 

Known for extreme positivity, Darina champions culture and the experience of the team and their network. Ooni’s purpose is Everyone deserves great pizza. Lucky for Darina and the team- great Ooni pizza experiences are an everyday occurrence in the office.

Kristian Tapaninaho is Founder and CEO of global outdoor pizza oven brand Ooni. Originally from Finland, Kristian invented the world’s first portable wood-fired oven in 2012 when his pizza was good and he wanted it to be great. 

Through the spark of this initial idea Kristian’s gone on to to set the world alight with a range of innovative outdoor cookware products and leads the world class team building the future of Ooni. Kristian loves to run whilst listening to heavy metal, having saunas and as well as building a global brand- he has the goal of visiting every whisky distillery in Scotland. 


[Host] Dec McLaughlin (SG Scotland/DM Nutrition)

Dec McLaughlin is the founder of DM Nutrition, a 'nutritionist in your pocket' that helps entrepreneurs lose up to 10kg, build 3-4kg muscle and 1/2 stress levels in as little as 90-days. 

Dec discovered the power of science-backed nutrition micro-habits during his Medicinal Chemistry masters degree where he helped friends and relatives lose up to 20kg without hours of meal prep or exercise.

Since then, he has gone on to lead the restart of the Startup Grind Edinburgh chapter after a short period of inactivity. Speakers since 2018 include Gillian Docherty OBE (The Data Lab), Bruce Walker (FutureX) & Marta Krupinska (Head of Google for Startups UK).


Since the success of our 2020 End of Year Social, we wanted to keep things lively and provide a virtual space for connection to catch up with old friends, make new ones and share grand ideas and learnings with each other. With that in mind, we’re excited to invite you to use Remo!

Remo is a virtual platform where you can interact face-to-face and move around a ‘room’ to different tables to meet and talk with other people.
