It became clear to Government that Gibraltar could harness benefits by supporting new technology sector firms & startups as a catalyst of Gibraltar's continued economic development. Join Min. For our January Fireside Chat we are hosting the Honourable Albert Isola MP. He is Gibraltar’s Minister for Commerce with the primary responsibility of raising Gibraltar’s profile as an established onshore, mainstream, well-regulated financial services centre. An accomplished and experienced speaker, Mr Isola has delivered keynote addresses at major financial services seminars and conferences in various countries. He is also responsible for financial services policy, product development, and responding to international initiatives such as international tax compliance. As such and supported by the Finance Centre Director and team, he works closely with the financial services regulator, the Financial Services Commission. Particularly noteworthy is his leading role in the establishment of the Gibraltar International Bank, a first for Gibraltar as a home-grown full-service credit institution that was launched in 2015.
He and his team at Gibraltar Finance working with Gibraltar Financial Services Commission are responsible for introducing the DLT regulatory framework which has made Gibraltar a Blockchain & FinTech startup hub. Appearing in some of the leading media around the world and speaking at the most prestigious conferences Min. Isola has done tremendous work on raising Gibraltar's profile as a leader of DLT and Blockchain business. We will review the past year and what is ahead for 2019.
