2020 Theme is FOOD!

Houston has one of the most welcoming, renowned and vibrant food scenes in the country. Because your Startup Grind Houston team is about helping to develop and support entrepreneurs beyond the expected pillars of Energy, Medical, and Space...we’ve decided to take on creating an environment to help our Food Entrepreneurs this year.

That includes our CPG, manufacturing, restaurant, and investor communities.

Our goal is to develop education that will build relationships and partnerships, and teach our local investors what matters to this segment of startup entrepreneurs.

We’ve created a short google form asking you to share with us who you are and what you need this year so we can seek the expertise and pull together what each of you needs to take the next steps for your business or investment portfolio.

#SGWomen Mastermind

We are excited to create a monthly time where you can get together with like-minded female entrepreneurs and uplift each other while growing your businesses.

We tested a #SGWomen Book Club and what we learned from the female entrepreneurs that showed up was they want:

Topic driven conversations (instead of having to read a whole book). That means we will be focused on sharing topics that matter to our current need for growth via articles, news, movies, and/or books. Here is where you can tell us what matters to you this year>>> ​via a google form​! That helps give you insights into what is important to your fellow women entrepreneurs.

Living our inclusive values, we will invite more than those who have participated at #SGWomen, we are also inviting female leaders across our business community, academia, and government.

Watching Houston lose startups to other cities where there is an abundance of early-stage and seed funding has made us more determined than ever to focus on how can we create more angel investors for Houston startups.

An interesting insight that surfaced when Blair Garrou sat in our fireside chat chair a couple of years ago was how he reminded founders, , they have as much control on who they invite and decided to work with as investors, as investors have in giving startups funding. It is a two-way street that we want to be a part of the education programming to ensure there are more successful working investing relationships.
