Why Having A Scientist On Your Startup Team is Savvy?

Jan 11, 2018, 1:00 – 3:00 AM

Rice University, 6100 Main St. Bldg. 22 ABL 131, Houston, 77005

A young kid walks up to a stranger using a unusual tool at the skate park. The kid asks the man “hey whatcha doing?” This stranger sees an opportunity to educate a kid and a startup in the process. That stranger was Adrian Lenardic, Professor of Earth, Environmental, and Planetary Science at Rice University and he will show us how experimentation is a critical component of your startup journey.

In-person event

About this event

How valuable would it be if you had a tool to tackle the problem of uncertainty in your startup?

That's why we asked  Professor Lenardic to sit in the chair. It gives us the opportunity to take a deep dive into why you want to have a scientist on your startup team. Tonight we will be learning to harness the power of experiments for business.

Prof Lenardic discovered his own unknown limitations when revisiting the skate park after a decade of inactivity. As a scientist, he experimented with hypothesis testing and data analysis to improve his skateboarding technique. A young kid became interested in his process, leading to the formation of Skate Lab.

Skate Lab is attracting the eye of business. Businesses are re-learning unique and effective ways to solve problems.

Come Learn How to Exploit the Power of Experimentation for Your Startup

  • How to use the scientific method to ask better questions
  • How to use the scientific method to make sense of big data
  • How to use the scientific method to choose the correct business model
  • How to use the scientific method to discover your segmented target market
  • How to use the scientific method to refine your communication effectiveness

What If Having a Chief Science Officer Was Missing From Your Team?

(English teachers close your eyes)

Maybe with that scientist, you'd have asked the more effective questions that lead to making sense of the data which identified a profitable business model for your target market that had the money to buy your product because you communicated in ways they GO CRAZY FOR YOUR SOLUTION!
