Fatima Yagana Babakura has been an inspirational figurehead for many young women. She is the founder and creative director of Timabee, a luxury accessory brand that is committed to designing and manufacturing high-end pieces with the best leathers for women. Her love for designing and the curiosity to see her design come to life was what pushed her to start Timabee.
Fatima graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from McMaster University. In May 2016, she was the Personal Assistant to the honorable Commissioner for Environment Gombe state. During the course of her work in that position, she efficiently managed the media and social media pages for the ministry where she helped create awareness among people about the ministry which in turn increased productivity in the ministry. She also worked as an intern with KPMG Nigeria in 2017 where she carried out research for analysis to benchmark NEXIM against other EXIM banks, in addition to numerous other assignments.
Fatima started Timabee in 2014 where she carefully selects materials, designs and makes samples of handbags and shoes, then decides what goes into a collection. She oversees the creative process and gives guidance to her creative manufacturers to ensure the quality of handbags and manages promotion to ensure efficient marketing of the brand to increase sales. Timabee has exhibited both locally and internationally.
In 2016, Timabee won the "best brand of the year " at an event organized by Team 360 group in Toronto, Canada. In 2017, Fatima was awarded "Iconic Woman" at Women's Economic Forum's (WEF) annual event in India. MAX Group nominated her as "entrepreneur of the year " in Toronto. In 2018, Fatima was listed among "100 most influential Nigerians ". Fatima has also been invited to speak at WEF, MAX GROUP Canada's annual Gala. She was also listed as one of the "22 women entrepreneurs redefining African luxury ". Fatima and Timabee have been featured in countless newspapers and magazines around the world.
Passionate about entrepreneurship and mentorship in Africa especially for women, Fatima founded Timabee Global Resources (TGR). TGR is a platform that helps anyone inspired or interested in the accessory business to navigate their way from product development up until delivery processes.
