Rob has been a founder and executive in three successful tech startups. With three major exits to publicly traded companies - sold to Adaptec, Microsoft and Guidance Software - Rob has figured out the secret sauce of business planning, funding, and employee development. These days he consults with owners & execs in mid-size companies, helping them in areas like acquisitions and partnerships.
Rob has been a founder and executive in three successful tech startups. With three major exits to publicly traded companies - sold to Adaptec, Microsoft and Guidance Software - Rob has figured out the secret sauce of business planning, funding, and employee development.
Rob had his first exit at 24 selling his first venture to Adaptec. Within 24 months, he created and exited a second venture which demonstrated a 3% per day user growth rate and became the core of Microsoft's Internet Gaming Zone. And the last exit to Guidance Software was a venture that grew over 7 years acquiring 85% market share.
These days he consults with owners & execs in small- to mid-size companies, helping them in areas like acquisitions, partnerships, gap analysis, talent identification, and where to bury the bodies (ok, maybe not the last one). Rob originally came up through the engineering ranks and still likes to "scratch the engineering itch", so he also does some hands-on engineering from time to time. That's not as random as it sounds...Staying sharp on the engineering side helps Rob identify new business opportunities like the ones that led to his most recent startup success.
Rob grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and retains the can-do approach that is typical in so many Silicon Valley companies. Having lived through two Silcon Valley startups and one here in Wisconsin, Rob has seen first-hand the pros and cons of building a tech business in the Midwest vs. on "the Coast". There are more advantages in Wisconsin than you might think!
