Nate Abbott is the Founder of Everlater and the Head of Product at MapQuest. Everlater, which was acquired by AOL/MapQuest in 2012, is a web platform where users can record their travel experiences. The company was created on a sailboat between Columbia and Panama with Nate’s longtime best friend and co-founder. Nate left a Wall Street financial job to travel and he ended up founding Everlater. Nate and his co-founder moved into their parents’ basement and taught themselves how to program so they could build and launch the company. Everlater was one of the elite members of TechStars’ Boulder Class of 2009. However, Everlater’s initial launch was not a success. Nate and his co-founder analyzed their metrics and ended up pivoting from B2C to B2B. Eventually, it was acquired by MapQuest. Nate is now the Head of Product at MapQuest, where he oversees development of new features and instills a startup “culture of winning” to the company. Nate is excited to return to speak at his alma mater, Macalester College, to educate and inspire entrepreneurs in the Twin Cities community.
