Join us @Google to listen to the entrepreneurial journey of Dr. Andreas Fruth - from starting up at Rocket Internet to building the Global Savings Group: a leading operator of digital saving platforms across 24 countries, generating sales worth about 500 million euros.
Andreas is Co-Founder and Managing Director of the Global Savings Group, a leading operator of digital saving platforms, active in 24 countries around the globe.
After his graduation in mechanical engineering at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg he joined McKinsey, where he worked in various departments (product development, strategy, M&A) and different industries (High Tech, Automotive). At the same time, he obtained a PhD in logistics from Technical University Munich. After five years as a management consultant, he joined the German online start-up builder Rocket Internet. During that time he launched Lazada Vietnam, the largest online shopping and selling platform in Southeast Asia.
In 2012, together with Gerhard Trautmann and Adrian Renner, he co-founded DropGifts, a Social Gifting Platform, based in Berlin. After a few months, the team pivoted their first company into CupoNation, the Group’s first online coupon platform and consumer brand.
Within five years the Global Savings Group has now grown to an international team of nearly 300 employees with offices in Munich, Amsterdam, Paris, Madrid, São Paulo, Gurgaon, Narón and Moscow. In 2016 the Group operated about 50 platforms that generated sales worth about 500 million euros across its over 20 000 retail partners.
Next to his entrepreneurial endeavours, Andreas used to actively coach sports teams for 15 years. He now continues to follow his passion by professionally mentoring early-stage local digital startups in his spare time.
