More than 2.4m members in almost 400 cities around the world meeting at 5,000 monthly local events – this is the story of InterNations. Malte, Founder and Co-CEO, will share his entrepreneurial journey from working as a correspondent and TV reporter in countries such as India or Brazil to building an online network with international success in 2007, when the era of social media only just began.

About this event

While working as a correspondent and television reporter for international broadcasters such as CNN International, N24, n-tv and ARD in various countries, including India and Brazil, Malte experienced many of the challenges related to being an expatriate himself: he realised that gathering the necessary information before moving to another country and establishing a network of social and professional contacts at the new destination can be very tiring and time- consuming. This is how he and Philipp von Plato, who had both graduated from the University of St. Gallen together, came up with the idea of creating a platform specifically aimed at those who are living and working abroad.

With more than 2.4 million members in almost 400 cities, InterNations operates on a global level, offering global and local networking both online and face-to- face at more than 5,000 monthly events and activities around the world.

As Founder and Co-CEO of the company, Malte will share his entrepreneurial journey of building and funding a social network at the very beginning of the social media boom, that is now entering its 10th year of global success.
