Sequoyah Sherrill

Sequoyah is a clinically licensed (LCMFT) and trained Psychotherapist, Author, Breathwork Coach and Mental Health Advocate. Sequoyah received a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from Hampton University, a Masters in Couple and Family Therapy from Drexel University and a certificate in Women’s Entrepreneurship from Cornell University. She is clinically licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in Maryland and DC.

Sequoyah is a passionate advocate for mental health in general but most importantly in her community, highlighting the importance of black therapists and cultural competency in treatment. With over a decade of experience, she has witnessed firsthand the challenges that stigma, shame, financial limitations, and cultural biases pose to people seeking help. She believes education and awareness are the key to breaking the stigma surrounding mental health. As a black therapist, Sherrill recognizes the unique challenges that her community faces when it comes to mental health. The lack of representation and understanding within the field can lead to inadequate treatment and support.

For this reason, she is on a mission to change this. Sequoyah currently serves as Co-Founder and COO of Solid Ground Wellness, an outpatient mental health clinic servicing Baltimore, MD and surrounding areas. Addtionally, she is also the Founder & CEO of Onmycouchhh, a wellness collective and consulting agency founded to dismantle the stigma surrounding mental health in the black community.
