About Dr. Iman Bibars:

Dr. Iman Bibars is a visionary for social entrepreneurship and a pioneer of women-led and gender-focused development initiatives for more than 30 years. She is the Vice President of Ashoka: Innovators for the Public, and the Regional Director of Ashoka Arab World.

Having launched Ashoka Arab World in 2003 in Egypt, Dr. Iman led the organisation’s expansion to 11 countries in the MENA region.

Dr. Bibars is also a co-Founder and the current Chairperson of the Association for the Development and Enhancement of Women (ADEW), a leading Egyptian CSO that provides credit and legal aid for impoverished women while making substantial changes at the policy and the community levels to empower these women and their families.

She is a firm believer in working on systematically changing the social and ideological conditions as opposed to only addressing symptoms of the problems facing women.

With an international career spanning from UNICEF to the World Bank, Dr. Bibars is a renowned social development expert, a sought-after trainer and consultant, and the author of several books.

Moreover, she holds a PhD in Development Studies from Sussex University and a BA and MA in Political Science from The American University in Cairo. She was a Peace Fellow at Georgetown University and a Parvin Fellow at Princeton University.

For 30 minutes, we will chat with Dr. Iman Bibars about social entrepreneurship, social development, gender, youth empowerment, organizational capacity building, monitoring and evaluation, social policies, education and social participation and social security.

We will reflect on her journey, successes, and challenges, and her insights on the current circumstances with regard to businesses/startups.

Following that will be a 7 minutes Q&A session where Dr. Iman answers any questions you might have.
