About this event

The Capital City Business Chamber named Louis van der Watt, co-founder of Atterbury, Business Leader of the Year 2015.

Atterbury was founded in Pretoria, in 1994 by Louis van der Watt and Francois van Niekerk. The company has developed prime commercial, retail and residential property across South Africa, the rest of the African continent and more recently, Europe.

Atterbury is perhaps best known as the developer and co-owner of the new Mall of Africa at Waterfall, Midrand. The company has earned a reputation for creating and growing property funds. Most recently, JSE-listed real estate capital growth fund Attacq was spun out of the Atterbury stable. Before that, it formed Attfund, which was sold to Hyprop in 2011.

Louis has recently resigned as a nonexecutive director to pursue his own entrepreneurial interests.
