Eric founded Seeed Studio in 2008, which now became the top 1 open source hardware component manufacturer in China and top 3 globally. It maintains an annual increase rate around 200~300% with a 8-figure revenue (40-50% goes into profit). Deeply influenced by the spirit of foreign maker spaces, Eric founded the first maker space called "Chaihuo" in Shenzhen, in the intent to bring the maker movement to China, and promote its culture. For expanding the influence of maker spirit, and broadening its reach to the public, Eric hosted the 2012 and 2014 Maker Faire, respectively, that attracted 20000 makers, to promote the collaboration between Chinese and international makers and help grow maker culture in China.
After his explorations in component manufacturing, maker space and open source activities, Eric's Maker Dream has not yet stopped. In 2012, he co-founded the first mentor-driven hardware incubator called HAXLR8R, providing seed fund and mentorship to new startups, in the hope to connect them with resources in Silicon Valley.
