Startup Grind Shenzhen collaborates with AWS Greater China and creates a brand new theme series in 2020 to dig deeper into the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning industry. In April, June, and August, we shared the status of machine learning projects, the future of AI development, demonstration with real-life cases of AI applications.
To Wrap up this amazing theme event, our focus will be technical support for social innovation. Thanks to the special partners in December --- Global Shapers Shenzhen Hub, Amsterdam Hub, and Tencent Westart, there will be a diverse panel including Robin from inuka, Chex from Global Shapers Shenzhen Hub, and Sherry Xian from Luolai Health Tech, to discover how technology application could help with social innovation startup development and increase the accessibility to products or service.
In 2020, we've been handling changes and facing uncertainty more than ever before. Organizations and individuals, business leaders and co-workers, parents and students, we're all forced to adapt to new normals such as social distancing, remote working, home-based learning, etc. Fortunately, with technology, we're somehow able to connect with each other more closely. Robin is a social scientist by training and a social entrepreneur by experience. After working in commercial BD, management, and venture manager roles at Philips, she started her current startup within the Philps Africa Innovation hub. She took this project outside the company, so now Robin is co-founder and CEO of Inuka.io. She is also on a personal mission to facilitate authentic connections between people.
Chex Yu is currently mainly responsible for product development, commercialization, AI and big data research and its related fields. She collaborated with Imperial College London on the Climate Risk and Financial Innovation project that integrates cutting-edge academic research and industry expertise to develop AI-driven climate risk asset pricing models as well as innovative financial products. Chex has been committed to inclusive finance and big data economic research for a long time. Previously, she was the Head of Consumer Finance and Data Scientist at the Big Data Institute of JPMorgan Chase. Her research results have been reported by the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Bloomberg and many other international media. She also once worked as an economic analyst for the World Bank Group and a consultant for the United Nations Development Programme, conducting research in Kenya, Zambia, India and other countries. Chex holds a double bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Economics from the University of North Carolina, and a master's degree in Economics and Public Policy from Princeton University.
Sherry Xian, CEO of Luolai Health Tech. Bachelor of Applied Psychology, Beijing Normal University; Ph. D. in Psychology, University of Chicago; and Postdoctoral in the Department of Neurobiology, Stanford University. She was the former director of Cornell University Survey Research Institute, Partner and the Chief Data Officer of Shenzhen iCarbonX Co., Ltd. She was also the CEO of Sumian, a company devoted to helping people sleep better, have a balanced mood, and a healthy brain.
She has led Longitudinal cohort tracking, data gathering, and analysis projects on behalf of various clients including President Barack Obama, New York State, and many prominent professors, academics, researchers, and government/private institutions such as NASA and Hilton. Has participated in, initiated, or managed several large psychological and neurophysiological programs funded by the National Institutes of Health, the National Academy of Ophthalmology (NIH), the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Sloan Foundation, and others.
At iCarbonX, She is responsible for building the customer data collection and analysis platform, using machine learning method to analyze complex data including omics, phenotypes, smart devices, social and other customer data. In addition, she has led a team to design, develop, and promote multiple health management projects. She is a TEDx speaker and mentor of LeanIn Shenzhen. She has also been providing suggestions and solutions to traditional industries to achieve digital transformation and utilize the power of AI.

Melody is a leadership coach dedicated to empowering the next generation to unleash their talent and create a better society. As China Lead of Young Founders School, a non-profit organization headquartered in Hong Kong, she had been scaling the entrepreneurship program to high school students in Shenzhen since 2018. Melody was the Life Coach for the Asia-Pacific Innovation Academy in 2018 and the Expert Mentor of SDG4 Quality Education for UNLEASH in 2019. Exploring the unknown is her passion and independent thinking is her belief.
