About the Speaker & Her Work

Armed with a journalism background and a keen eye for spotting young talent, Merry Mei has helped shape youth-focused talent and content programs for leading tech brands, including ASUS, Acer, and OPPO. She has collaborated with top creators such as the renowned tech YouTuber He Tongxue (Teacher He), empowering young voices while fueling the growth of global tech brands.

Since 2022, Merry has led PaiKe Tech, an OPPO-incubated sub-brand, to provide global marketing solutions for Chinese companies going overseas—with “content matrix operations” at the core. Through its proprietary content-creator matrix and DTC channels, PaiKe Tech has driven explosive e-commerce growth and efficient app acquisition for brands. The team has delivered successful overseas marketing campaigns for major tech players, including ByteDance, OnePlus, and OPPO.

Merry is committed to “staying forever 18”—devoting her career to giving young people the platforms and resources they need to express themselves and create impact. She excels at identifying young creators’ strengths and supporting their development. Her collaborations include top tech KOLs like He Tongxue, national intangible-cultural-heritage inheritor Lang Jiaziyu, and documentary creator Lin Chen who was widely known for his work during the pandemic.

In her entrepreneurial journey, Merry has integrated content, commerce, and youth-creator ecosystems to help brands and institutions achieve both business and social value.

Startup Grind Shenzhen / Community Building Lab (CBL)

Grace Zhang is a Shenzhen-based community builder with over 10 years of experience. Since 2014, she has led the development of Startup Grind Shenzhen, and has contributed her community-building expertise to platforms such as Y Combinator, Startup Weekend, Google Developers Group, AngelHack, and more.

Her community has been recognized with multiple awards—including “Most Cohesive Community in South China” (2018 & 2019) and “Best Partner of Tencent Makerspace” (2019, 2020, 2022). Startup Grind Shenzhen’s content has been incorporated into Harvard Business School coursework, and Grace herself received the 2021 Startup Grind Lifetime Achievement Award.

She also hosts the podcast Community Building Lab (CBL), sharing her methodologies for building sustainable, high-quality communities. Before returning to Shenzhen, she worked as a tech journalist in Chicago.
