About this event

Joana Breidenbach is the co-founder of Germany’s largest social crowdfunding platform, betterplace.org and the founder of betterplace lab, a consultancy and think-tank in the digital-social field. Since its launch, betterplace.org has raised €38 million for 20'000 projects. Causes seeking funding on the platform have included among others, shelter houses, refugee rescue operations in the Mediterranean and an organisation providing help to elderly sufferers of Alzheimer’s.

Joana is also a regular contributor in the dialogue between politics, business and nonprofits, e.g. as a participant on a panel on Digital Transformation and the Internet of Things with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, as well as a part of several expert groups on digitization organised by the German Government. Named as one of “25 women for the digital future” in 2014 by online magazine Edition F, Joana is a sought-after speaker on issues of social digitization and organisation design, most recently at TedX Berlin in November 2016.

We’ll be speaking about Joana’s personal journey, betterplace.org’s plans for tackling the €7bn German donations market, the value of social entrepreneurship and much much more.
